Power outages cause water crisis

The water crisis has started in the inner city and surrounding areas due to unannounced long load shedding and extreme heat.

The three dams which supply water to the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Rawal Dam, Khanpur Dam and Simli Dam, have started running out of water due to continuous drought.

If the area does not have torrential rains till May 31, water rationing will start in early June when the water supply from the three dams in the twin cities dwindles.

Due to extreme heat and load shedding, tube wells supplying water to WASA and cantonment boards have also started failing to supply water. Water supply from all shallow tube wells is declining.
